In order to really understand how much this meant to me, you have to understand where my mind was at the time of receiving this compliment.

I was working 2 jobs (8am to 10pm) Monday through Friday. At lunch and on breaks I would work on my websites I was getting close to launching. In fact, I would time everything PERFECTLY every single day. As soon as it was noon, I’d put some lunch in the microwave and while it was cooking I’d take my bathroom break. On my way out of the restroom, I’d grab the hot lunch, head back to my desk, and diligently start typing out text content that I was going to put on my website.

I’d do this again at 5pm with dinner. I started my second job at 6pm, and during lulls in the evening I’d start typing an email to Read More→

What is Your Purpose?

Posted by: Adam Holland | Comments (0)

I’ve written a lot of blogs about having the right attitude, overcoming fear, and a lot of other self development topics. I haven’t really touched on this topic all to much, but it does have a few things to do with having a clear vision.

When you have a clear vision of what your future is going to be, you can overcome the obstacles and overcome your fears. But what is your true purpose here on this earth?

Is it your purpose to struggle to pay the bills every month? Is it your purpose to have a marriage filled Read More→

Desire

Posted by: Adam Holland | Comments (0)

Desire: to long for; crave; want. The feeling that accompanies an unsatisfied state.

These were just some of the definitions I found online. And I really like that last part: The feeling that accompanies an unsatisfied state.

I never really though of desire that way, but it’s true. If you desire living somewhere other than where you live right now, it’s because you’re unsatisfied with your current situation. If you want a new car, it’s probably because of a dislike for the one you drive now.

It’s interesting, though, how we hear so many people complain over these things and don’t do anything Read More→

The Dream / Goal

Posted by: Adam Holland | Comments (2)

If you’ve read any self development books by now, you probably understand how important your dreams are and how you must consistently set new goals. Without consistent goal setting, it is very easy to get complacent. Without dreams, the steps (progressive goals) required along the way won’t mean as much and you probably won’t have the ambition to take things the extra mile when it’s required.

In order to have a dream that will always pick you up when you’ve been hit by an obstacle of any kind in your business (or in life), you need to have a CLEAR VISION OF WHAT YOU WANT. That’s so easy to say, but very difficult to fully comprehend.

By clear vision, I mean you have sat and thought… perhaps meditated… on where you will be in the Read More→

The ‘Dream Board’

Posted by: Adam Holland | Comments (1)

Has your upline ever told you to make a ‘dream board’? Mine did. I bought a huge poster board and spent a few hours cutting pictures out of magazines. Cars, homes, guitars, TVs, lakes and ponds, beautiful mountain views. Pictures of people on vacation. Pictures of smiling couples with their kids on the beach or skiing or at an amusement park. Pictures of everything that I wanted out of life.

Putting your dreams in front of you can be very powerful. As long as you keep them in front of you all the time and in the right places and with the correct kind of display. Allow me to explain.

I had this ‘dream board’ placed right across my bed, so when I would wake up in the morning it would be the first thing I’d see. Well, that wall was right next to the door, so when I opened up the door (or left it open overnight) I’d pass right by it. I also have a very dark bedroom, which didn’t help either. Needless to say, I forgot all about it. This was the only spot I had a ‘dream board’ and the board was about 3 feet by 4 feet.

Was I needed to learn was to put these pictures and notes in several areas and also restrict their size. What I mean by that is if you find a picture of your dream bedroom(s), put just those pictures in your current bedroom. Maybe even with a note with big, bold letters that say “Sleep ‘til noon, everyday!” This way you’re reinforced visually by word and picture.

Another example would be your dream car. I found a small picture online of what the dashboard in my dream car looks like. I printed and then cut it out, and then taped it on top of my actual car’s dashboard. (By the way, if you tape something in your car make sure it doesn’t hide the SPEEDOMETER!!) The caption could read, “Who cares what gas prices are! I’m a millionaire!!”

I suggest plastering your dream pictures where you are the most, not just on your refrigerator. The more you see your dream through your eyes (not just your thoughts), the more the vision of your future should become clear.

One other concept I used was the power of not just YOUR dreams, but the dreams of those that YOU LOVE. I knew what my goals were, but visioning yourself succeeding for a bigger cause can explode your enthusiasm exponentially. Here’s what I mean.

After seeing the compensation plan, I couldn’t help but make a huge list of MY goals. After you think of what you want, now go ask your family and friends what they would do if they had $50 million but only 6 months to live. DON’T TELL THEM YOU HAVE A BUSINESS AND YOU’RE GOING TO BE RICH. They don’t need to know and you don’t need the backlash of criticism to squash your dream. Ask them that question, and you’ll be surprised what you hear. Sure, you’ll get some of the generic ‘homes, cars, and love’ answers. But putting the limitation on TIME will give you a lot more creative answers. You usually don’t get the ‘I’ll invest it’ answer, because –remember- they ‘only have 6 months to live’.

I got answers like:

I want to learn how to fly a plane.”

I’ve always wanted to take a group of orphans or disabled children to a National Park or something like that.”

I’ve always wanted to design a hotel, or museum.”

I’d donate some to disease research.”

I’ve always wanted to travel around the world.”

These are probably things you CAN’T accomplish on your income right now, or by yourself. Picturing yourself in other people dreams can be quite exciting, especially if those people are your business partners. I love to collaborate with my new partners; ask them where they want to be in 5 years, and ask them the $50 million question above. When you and your team know beyond any shadow of a doubt that you will reach your goals together and become the best you can be by keeping your dreams in front of you, nothing can stop you.

Belief and Vision

Posted by: Adam Holland | Comments (0)

So many people want to know the ‘secret’ or ‘the hidden key’ to success and in marketing. Success in any industry always has a common denominator. If you want to know these concepts read some Napoleon Hill books and subscribe to my newsletter. The topic I’d like to discuss today is the concept of ‘belief’ and ‘vision’. These 2 terms can be interchanged in so many ways. Have you ever heard someone say, “I’ll believe it when I see it”? A very cliché statement, and usually made by someone who wants PROOF of something before they commit to something.

Then there’s the person who has vision but no belief. This seems almost paradoxical. How can someone have a vision in their mind, but not believe it? I was actually in this group for a long time. I over-thought EVERY decision I had to make. I’d draw diagrams, flowcharts, and make check lists bulleted with items that should be completed. I just didn’t believe that I could do it. I had seen others succeed and I thought I might be able to as well. What stopped me was FEAR. Fear occurs when you have the foresight to know what you SHOULD do, but don’t have the belief that you CAN do it. No belief, no action, no success.

Now, the person with no vision and no belief – this is just the mediocre person who isn’t going to do anything, ever, UNLESS they change the programming in their brain. And quick. I usually classify the person that has been burned and has pretty much given up on life in this category. Traditionally you’d think this would be a middle-aged individual, somewhere in their 50s or 60s, whose just gone through a bunch of crap. They’ve maybe been divorced, or don’t get along with their kids, or were laid off, or were forced to retire early, or there was a set of circumstances just out of their control that tilted their life off course. Anyone in this category needs to be “hooked up to an IV of positive thinking fluid”. They need to read books about success and stories of people overcoming their obstacles. They need to associate themselves around more positive people and listen to more positive radio, CDs, et cetera. These are not the ones you’re going to spend your time in network marketing on. The problem is many of these people aren’t just middle-aged; they’re in their mid to late 20’s!!! Our youth is coming out of college with a mortgage and no house (i.e. student loans), a job that pays (after inflation) less than HALF of what their parents made at their age, an economy of bankruptcies and foreclosures, and a society that says ‘put it on the credit cards because you need to impress your peers’.

Belief and vision are a direct result of the input you put in to your brain, and the actions you do or do not take to reinforce your beliefs. It’s the full circle. Your beliefs affect your actions, and vice versa. Well, what comes first? And how do we change what’s already in motion?

You start with small, simple changes and build from there.  If you are disciplined enough to get up and brush your teeth every morning, but don’t floss… force yourself to floss in the morning.  You are in control of your brain, not the other way around.  Reiterating that discipline to your sub conscience will let your brain know that YOU are in charge.  Reinforce that will small things, and then work to the bigger things.  It will take some time, but when you have full control of your beliefs and you’re feeding your positive energy everyday, you will become unstoppable.
