So many people want to know the ‘secret’ or ‘the hidden key’ to success and in marketing. Success in any industry always has a common denominator. If you want to know these concepts read some Napoleon Hill books and subscribe to my newsletter. The topic I’d like to discuss today is the concept of ‘belief’ and ‘vision’. These 2 terms can be interchanged in so many ways. Have you ever heard someone say, “I’ll believe it when I see it”? A very cliché statement, and usually made by someone who wants PROOF of something before they commit to something.

Then there’s the person who has vision but no belief. This seems almost paradoxical. How can someone have a vision in their mind, but not believe it? I was actually in this group for a long time. I over-thought EVERY decision I had to make. I’d draw diagrams, flowcharts, and make check lists bulleted with items that should be completed. I just didn’t believe that I could do it. I had seen others succeed and I thought I might be able to as well. What stopped me was FEAR. Fear occurs when you have the foresight to know what you SHOULD do, but don’t have the belief that you CAN do it. No belief, no action, no success.

Now, the person with no vision and no belief – this is just the mediocre person who isn’t going to do anything, ever, UNLESS they change the programming in their brain. And quick. I usually classify the person that has been burned and has pretty much given up on life in this category. Traditionally you’d think this would be a middle-aged individual, somewhere in their 50s or 60s, whose just gone through a bunch of crap. They’ve maybe been divorced, or don’t get along with their kids, or were laid off, or were forced to retire early, or there was a set of circumstances just out of their control that tilted their life off course. Anyone in this category needs to be “hooked up to an IV of positive thinking fluid”. They need to read books about success and stories of people overcoming their obstacles. They need to associate themselves around more positive people and listen to more positive radio, CDs, et cetera. These are not the ones you’re going to spend your time in network marketing on. The problem is many of these people aren’t just middle-aged; they’re in their mid to late 20’s!!! Our youth is coming out of college with a mortgage and no house (i.e. student loans), a job that pays (after inflation) less than HALF of what their parents made at their age, an economy of bankruptcies and foreclosures, and a society that says ‘put it on the credit cards because you need to impress your peers’.

Belief and vision are a direct result of the input you put in to your brain, and the actions you do or do not take to reinforce your beliefs. It’s the full circle. Your beliefs affect your actions, and vice versa. Well, what comes first? And how do we change what’s already in motion?

You start with small, simple changes and build from there.  If you are disciplined enough to get up and brush your teeth every morning, but don’t floss… force yourself to floss in the morning.  You are in control of your brain, not the other way around.  Reiterating that discipline to your sub conscience will let your brain know that YOU are in charge.  Reinforce that will small things, and then work to the bigger things.  It will take some time, but when you have full control of your beliefs and you’re feeding your positive energy everyday, you will become unstoppable.
